Mental Health Association of Okaloosa/Walton (MHAOW) is the area's oldest non-profit organization addressing all aspects of mental health, mental illness, and substance abuse. The association educates the public, advocates for excellence and equality in treatment, and supports individuals and families living with mental health disabilities. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a type of psychotherapy that helps people heal from trauma, anxiety, and other mental health issues. It involves the client focusing on a traumatic memory while also engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, which can make the memory easier to process and reduce distress. The process is structured in eight phases and can be effective in treating a range of conditions, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders
